Belt up

Belts are big news in fashion at the
moment. Wear them with anything.
Think unexpected and don't hold back.
A flash of gold, the sparkle of sequins or
even a splash of red patent can add a bit
of personality to any look.

Straw hats

Straw hats have a raw simplicity to
them that is carelessly, flippantly,
naturally right for the mood of the
moment.
From old straw boaters to crumpled and
with loads of character, these hats are perfect for the
beach , the city or the carousel in Monte Martre!

Petit Chapeau

Caps are coming back. Actually they never
really went away. This time though it is
not so much the trucker variety ( which
never looked better on anyone than
Geena Davis in 'Thelma and Louise',
by the way ), or the baseball cap.
I have been seeing cute, tweed,
drill cotton and military inspired caps
everywhere. There are a legion of fans of the
legionnaires cap out there, and also of one
that is almost inspired by an old time
railroad workers cap.
Check out these street looks above and
get capping.

Cherry, Cherry, Baby!

Cherries are so cool. They have to be the
fruit with most street cred.
Why?
I really couldn't say. But no one is about to get
a pineapple tattooed on there hip bone,
are they.
However a tiny bunch of cherries:
Perfect!
There is something glamorous, cheeky
and a bit burlesque about cherries.
A cherry laden bikini top just has that retro
cuteness about it.
Cherries are sexy.
Cherries have had songs written about them.
Cherries even have a cola flavoured after them.
So don't argue with a cherry.
They are a little fruit with a huge personality!

Hairspray

Hair creeping skyward faster than an A380!
Marge Simpson, Amy Winehouse, Beyonce
John Waters ( Hairspray), any and every
drag queen ever, Pam Anne and of course
Diana Ross and the Supremes, all new the
merits of creating a voluminous up do.
A place to hide things, create the illusion
of height, make an entrance, channel that
retro diva within and elude to that 60's -
glamour that air hostesses, girl pop groups
and even the everyday Stepford wife teased
into new heights.
So raise the roof girls (or boys ) out there,
and be inspired by some of these looks
from the street.

The Written Word

When I first started this blog, one of my
first considerations was the type face
I would use for my title.
After searching endlessly for one with
a spaghetti like quality, and not finding
one I liked, I created my own using
real spaghetti on my kitchen bench.
With the help of a very talented friend
who is a photo shop wizard,
the streetspaghetti typeface was born.
Here are some other examples of type that is simple,
powerful and original..

Eccentric and Loving it!

Some folks just march to the beat of their
own drum.
In a time when really anything goes,
it is harder and harder to be truly original...
unless you think multi coloured gumboots,
giant batwings and eye masks for daywear!
