The Sitting Buddha

Giant sitting atop a mountain in Hong Kong, only

reachable after climbing hundreds of steps, or sitting in

a flea shop in Hanoi amidst dusty clocks and rusty

coins, the image of Buddha brings serenity to any

street scape.

Personally I have always loved the Thai Buddhas with

the opulently flaking gold leaf, and the fat Buddha

with his rosy cheeks , always laughing in his peachy

robes and swathed in opulent gold.

Blondie

Blondie, Marilyn, Madonna, Princess Diana,

Bjorn Borg, Grace Kelly, Agyness Deyn,

Anna Nicole Smith, Britney......

If blondes really do have more fun as the cliche goes,

then the evidence is right here.

I Heart U

I was trekking over the Great Wall last year on a

cold and rather bleak day. Though incredibly inspiring

it is rather a grey and monotonous stretch of street,

albeit one if the seven wonders of the world and all that.

My heart was warmed to notice a small piece of chalk

drawn graffiti on one of the ancient stone walls.

Happy Valentines to all you lovers on the street,

Pont Neuf, the Great Wall, Siam Square, outside the

Pompidou..love can creep up and steel your heart

just about any where!

Cherry, Cherry, Baby!

Cherries are so cool. They have to be the

fruit with most street cred.

Why?

I really couldn't say. But no one is about to get

a pineapple tattooed on there hip bone,

are they.

However a tiny bunch of cherries:

Perfect!

There is something glamorous, cheeky

and a bit burlesque about cherries.

A cherry laden bikini top just has that retro

cuteness about it.

Cherries are sexy.

Cherries have had songs written about them.

Cherries even have a cola flavoured after them.

So don't argue with a cherry.

They are a little fruit with a huge personality!

Denimmmmm

Jeans...yeah we all love them. Denim is

now taking over all garments in our

wardrobes.

I know you have all noticed this.

From the chambray shirt, to the raw,

edged cut-offs and skirts around.

Lots of people seem to be getting very

creative with denim.

Here are just a few examples above.

The Monochromatic Man

Black and White is always a snappy urban

option. Far from mundane , these fellas

have played with shape and contrast to

stop traffic...like a graphic street sign,

or one of those black and white gates

at a railway crossing.

Do not pass without admiring their sharp style.
