The birds, the birds... everywhere!

Pandamoneum

A very unlikely inspiration on the streets

..maybe not.

With our fascination for all things rare,

monochromatic, cuddly and oriental,

maybe the Panda is the likely symbol

of our times.

More than any other animal, I have seen

this graphically interesting creature on

the streets of late.

Classic Strides

Chinos are back in a big way, or maybe

they never went away.

They are fresh and homey, masculine and

understated.

I love them with bright white canvas trainers

and a white shirt.

Also great with plaid!

Just observe the way they are worn above.

Plugged in

There is no other accessory more prevalent

on the streets at the moment.

Whether they are the little white cords

dangling down half of our fronts, or the

chunky retro Headphones.

They enable us to have our own soundtrack

to march to, or to connect with the world

as we run to work.

So why not think of them as a piece of

jewellery.

I predict this is the way headphone design

will go.

Tee Time

Its tee time again. Some great printed

tees around at the moment.

Original and expressing the personality

of the wearer.

What more can you ask for in the all

time greatest basic of all?

Loosening Up

One of my favourite shots ever is the one

above . I admire people who take fashion

risks and wear whatever suits themselves.

I also love the way guys are playing with

proportion and volume in all these shots.

A friend of mine said that she has noticed

how volume moves down the body as

fashions change.

With the emphasis seen on shoulders lately,

tapering down to narrow legged jeans and pants,

is a shift on the horizon.

Will the next voluminous zone be down around

the ankles with floaty skirts, flared pants and

caftans.

We have already seen this with women's fashion,

but are boys going to follow this trend next.

I am not suggesting that all men are going

to embrace the skirt, but baggy pants;

I think so.

Hendrix Hair

Suzy Quatro, Jimmy Hendrix, James Morrison,

Jet, Michael Hutchins, Keith Richards..

they all had HAIR..

Sometimes a legendary rock star mane

of hair really ...well, rocks out.. I guess.

One of the things about rock star hair is,

it is way harder to achieve than it looks.

It takes months of partying with no washing

and conditioner is never a friend of the

Rock God.

Never!

With Kirsten Stewart about to star in the

movie about Joan Jett's life..this do is about

to go mainstream.

So start growing , stop washing and start moshing.

Or just go against the grain and shave it all as

any rock star rebel would.

Straw hats

Straw hats have a raw simplicity to

them that is carelessly, flippantly,

naturally right for the mood of the

moment.

From old straw boaters to crumpled and

with loads of character, these hats are perfect for the

beach , the city or the carousel in Monte Martre!

Shades

There are so many great shades around it

makes it hard to chose.

Retro, big framed glamour, mirrored, or

classically cool.

I just go with my face shape and what suits.

I also try to pick shades that suit my personality

and mood. Don't write a cheque your ass

can't cash, or something like that.

Put it this way, if I wore a pair of mirrored

aviators, I would look more like one of the

Village people than the Rock God I had

perhaps hoped !

As I have lost countless pairs,

(or sat on them), it is rare that I will really

splurge on an expensive pair. However

sunglasses are like jeans. That perfect pair can

be somewhat illusive, so when you stumble across

them...

'just gettem!'

The Buzz Cut

Are you ready to get..

Buzzed ?

Monks have always done it. So have

marines and soldiers.

Sinead O'conner's , 'Nothing

Compares to You' video was just a close-up

of her face, head shaved and tears rolling.

Skinheads may have lent the cut some infamy,

and coming after the Hippy movement and

the 70's, where hair was all, well, everywhere,

shaving your head was seen as the ultimate

act of rebellion, and, highly subversive.

Now days, a shaved head is not so shocking

or laden with meaning. It is however freeing,

low maintenance, enhances great features and

can look great with a tux, a tee or a dress

for that matter.

Whatever street your on; whether you are

rugging up by a crackling fire, drinking

eggnog ,

or under the summer sun , BBQing prawns

and drinking your grandmother's punch..
