POW!

Guns on the street? The only type I like are
the ones in these Dirty Harry inspired
graphics or those 60's posters during the hippy
movement when guns shot out flowers.

There is a great add on Australian TV at
the moment. It is about the 'show-off'
hoons.. male, huge egos, screeching down
the road in their bad-ass cars; you know
the type.
Any way, as they drive past people,
almost running them over in the process,
thinking they are all that, these pedestrians
hold up a little finger and look at each
other with a knowing glance.
I think the same concept could be used for an
add about guns and knives on the street.

School of Rock

Nothing says rebellious youth like a
rock tee. Preferably faded and a bit
destroyed over years of mosh pits .
Whether worn with irony, or just with
pride, your Iron Maiden badge of honour
will ensure you skip the cue and get front
row at the gig.

Summer Beanies

As the temperature drops below zero
it is a common thing to see knitted hats
everywhere.
However the summer beanie is a relatively
new phenomenon.
Boys are working the look even when their
ears don't need warming, and why not,
it adds a bit of street to any outfit.
Just don't try this at the beach!

Little Black Strides

Bridgitte Bardot, Little Richard,
Olivia Newton John and Axel Rose,
what style choice do they all have in
common?

Black, sleek, fitted, body-hugging...not
since Paris was black and black was Paris
and the age of the St Germain all black
uniform, have black pants been so
ubiquitous.
Everyone has there own take on them though.
The rock edge of black jeans or leather (girls
only unless you are doing fancy dress or
really are a Rock God!) And then there is
sexy shiny Lycra leggings, or the tailored
and flattering variety.
I love the look with contrasting tops and
black shoes.. see how they are worn here
and you can't go wrong.

Uniformity

I hope this shows that uniforms don't
always have to be dull.
A rollerblading policewoman in Paris,
a celebratory march in Cuba , a dashing
guard in Beijing, and a Sailor girl at the
Sydney gay and lesbian Mardi Gras.
Oh, and a brigadier type chap..is that
Lord Nelson?

Comic ..

Streets festooned with bright cartoon style.
Animated.
Larger than life .
I keep expecting Betty Boop to wander past.
However a girl in a romper suit ,
cute as a button,
on a milk crate will do.

Drink brillante beverages from a street stall.
Bring on the day-glo dreamscapes.
Escape to streets straight from a Disney film.
Dance like Paula Abdul with a Tom Cat...
am I getting a bit carried away?

Eccentric and Loving it!

Some folks just march to the beat of their
own drum.
In a time when really anything goes,
it is harder and harder to be truly original...
unless you think multi coloured gumboots,
giant batwings and eye masks for daywear!
