Pants on fire..

Red pants...who would have thought!
I first saw evidence of their appeal in Cuba,
where the girls combine fitted red jeans with
black Versace-esque styled jackets,
a look that was big in the late 80's,
but looks right for right now!

Now red jeans and pants are popping up
all over.

I love them a bit faded with beaten up canvas
sneakers ,or baggy and rolled.
You don't have to be a clown to
carry them off.

Cafe seating with style..

Some seating at cafes might be small
enough to fit on a narrow sidewalk,
but they are big on style!

Getting Graphic

Black and white photographic prints on
tees are popping up everywhere in every
city I have been in lately.

Faces, bold type and old photos
are covering so many chests, it is proof
that graphic statement , monochromatic
T-shirts are street style staples!

Comic ..

Streets festooned with bright cartoon style.
Animated.
Larger than life .
I keep expecting Betty Boop to wander past.
However a girl in a romper suit ,
cute as a button,
on a milk crate will do.

Drink brillante beverages from a street stall.
Bring on the day-glo dreamscapes.
Escape to streets straight from a Disney film.
Dance like Paula Abdul with a Tom Cat...
am I getting a bit carried away?

Eccentric and Loving it!

Some folks just march to the beat of their
own drum.
In a time when really anything goes,
it is harder and harder to be truly original...
unless you think multi coloured gumboots,
giant batwings and eye masks for daywear!

MOments in Movember...

My last Movember post (see Nov 8th and
Oct 25th for more mo,s )..

Sure many of you are itching to shave ,
while others might just keep up the hairy
adventure into moville for a while.

Whichever way you lean, here are some
more admirable examples of
moustachioed gents and some..
who are smooth and clean cut.

Wallpapered...

I previously posted wallpapered on the
26th Oct, well I have decided to make
this a regular post as it was one of my
favourites.
I just love the layers of posters and fliers
peeling off a wall, or the gig guides
creating a funky wall covering.

Just takes me back to my bedroom wall
when I was 16!

Hot Pink Public Transport..

The classic black London cab had better
watch out. There is a new breed in town.
Forget discreet and inconspicuous,
gliding past the elegant stone facades
and black iron gates,
down wet shiny streets.
All very proper.

Fierce and fuchsia!
Plastered with publicity!
A distant relative of the fluro taxi that has
emerged in many tropical climates south
of the equator..(I first saw them in Bangkok.)

At least they are easy to spot.

Lionhearted Style..

I recently watched an episode of Project
Runway Australia. Contestants were asked
to design a collection based on an animal.
Lion was one.
I personally think this girl in Tokyo may
have had the king of the jungle in mind
when she put together this look with its mix
of tawny textures , colour and her cute spiky mane.

Lets all be inspired by animals more often when
getting dressed. I am not talking hiring a giant
gorilla suit or a Donny Darkoesque rabbit outfit...
(though Ilove eccentrics and why not if you feel inclined),
just acknowledging that nature often gets it spot on.

Not only that , lets turn our urban jungles
into real jungles. Let animals climb our walls
and guard our doorways.
Who better to do that than the King of the Beasts!

Intergalactic

Is there any body out there ....... ?

A UFO has visited a street near you.
No crop circles...
but the evidence is right here.

Hair warp....

Sometimes hairdressers and barbers retain
that feeling from another decade.
I love them...the old 80's hair posters on
the walls , faded vinyl chairs and huge cans
of hairspray or shaving cream.
Somehow they are so much cooler than
modern salons.. generic, minimal and trying
way too hard.
Long live the time warped salon!
