Style Icons

I have seen these totally recognizable faces
popping up all over the streets I have
travelled to recently. They are synonymous
with style and now they are signifiers of the
type of attitude and spirit their image
embodies.
It used to be that you bought a Tee at a
concert and then wore your music tastes
on your sleeve.
Now it is can be anyone from First Ladies to
domestic Goddesses that appear in the
most unexpected places.
But there will always be the face of an iconic
music legend in amongst them all.
Elvis might have left the building but is still
very much present on the streets.

Buckle up

With studs almost out studding themselves,
are buckles the next HUGE trend in
accessories.
All Aerosmith style.
Like a pirate of rock ..
all shiny shiny and blazing.

Don't hold back with this look on one
accessory only.

And with suede ; definitely.
Blinging fake rocks Texan style; perfect.
Three in a row;edgy and simple,
and originalas in the case of the gentleman
in (1) , an ex boot maker, he made his own.

Plaid for Keeps

Plaid has officially become a fixture on the
street. Many trends have come and gone
but this one has is here to stay for a while.
It is featured in so many parts of our
wardrobe that it can be mixed with just
about any other thing you own and will
add just the right amount of throw away,
homey style to your look.
Here are some examples of perfect plaid.

Shoes..Shoes..Shoes ; Just Gettem!

The stiletto is loaded with meaning.
No other piece of clothing has so many
different connotations.
Seen by some as a woman's Achilles heel;
feminists have derided them, embraced them
and then rejected them all over again
Others see it as a woman's' right of passage,
or a status symbol, ( just watch any episode of
'Sex in the City.')
A fetishists obsession, or just a thing of
beauty and carefully considered design.
Love them or hate them, heels are a part of
our street culture.
Just take a pair of ballet flats, ( now sold
in night club vending machines apparently)
with you in your bag, for marathon dance
sessions or extended shopping expeditions.
And PS..I know it's been around for a
while now , but just check out Kelly's
'Shoes' on youtube.. for the ultimate
shoe mantra!

Wallpapered part 3

Another sample of what I've seen on walls
lately. Peel back the layers and trace the
history of the last month of street culture.

Leather Forever

Too cool for school.. that's the
leather biker jacket.
Marlon Brando, Jimmy Dean and
Elvis all knew it..not to mention the Fonze,
the cast of Grease and Cher on a
naval vessel!
Just take a look at the couple below who
would even outshine Johnny Depp
and Vannessa Paradis in the style
nonchalance stakes.
Also consider the practicality of
roller blading in one..
no more skinned elbows.
