Elvis spotted in ...Sydney

I saw this very cool Day of The Dead inspired bust
of the King in Newtown , Sydney, in the window of a
very cool shop called Holy Kitsch.

Grandma Chic...Tokyo

The streets of Tokyo have come over a
bit Granny ( with a twist) of late.

Spotted: thick ribbed tights, faded pink
textured cardies , loads of burgundy and
teal green smocks and knee length skirts.

I am sure they have knitting needles in
their handbags right next to there ipads!

Tongues, Perth

The Rolling Stones famous album cover
and tour tee graphics started it all, but lately I have
noticed quite a few out-stretched tongues.

Cool Couples 1

Some couples just look great in there
carelessly matching street style.

Here are a few of my favourites..

Grim Disco, Mumbai

I love the graphics I spot on the street that are a bit
left of centre.

This one in Mumbai really got my attention... how
could it not when it features Robin Hood on
roller skates.

Pencil, Sydney

Stencil art is spreading as fast small patches of wall
can be found and creative street artists can get there
quirky and cryptic but usually provocative imagery
out there.
I love this one..

Heavy Metal, Sydney

I love this heavy Gothic door with its
exquisite detail and wonderful use
of tarnished metal.
The door of a church in Surry Hills that
was bought by a celebrated and iconic
dominitrix /artist, Madam Lash.

No longer used as a church, this inspiring
building is now a music venue of sorts.

Shutters, Seminyak...Bali

Sometimes an idea can be so simple, but so powerful
that it leaves me gob-smacked .

As I arrived at this bar (interestingly named
Potato Head) in Seminyak, Bali, a fortress
of sky-high reclaimed shutters greeted me.

Inside was a mystery waiting to be discovered...
stay tuned!

Interesting Layering...Sydney

Sometimes as layers of tags and artwork build up
over time, the resulting effects can be really cool..
like a kind of wall collage.

Woof, Darlinghurst..Sydney

I have always had a soft spot (sorry) for dalmations ...
blame it on Walt Disney I guess, so naturally I am
thrilled that dalmations have been popping up on
walls all around the suburb I live in.

Not quite 101 of them, but I will post more in the
days ahead !

More Anime Magic

The Japanese Anime phenomenon is now influencing
so many areas of pop culture including the beauty
industry, music and music videos...(see Nicki Minaj or
The Black Eyed Peas) .

Not to mention fashion with the theatrical ,
cartoonish , heroic or baby-doll looks being
adopted by many Japanese kids, and lately I have
seen evidence of it's influence in other parts of Asia
such as Bangkok.
I am sure it is only a matter of time before girls in
London and LA are donning huge false eyelashes ,
braiding their hair and wearing aprons with heels
on the street.

Dancing in The street

Last summer I was wandering around the river Thames
in London late one afternoon, and I stumbled upon
the best band just entertaining the crowds,
some of whom were dancing with such complete
abandon under the sinking sun, pints of lager in hand.

I love Europe in the summer as they really make the
most of the warm evenings and the increased daylight
hours.
