images that work together like a 3-dimensional

collage.

Even though this beautiful image was just simply

tacked to a wall its simplicity and white on white

colour scheme caught my eye.

noticed quite a few out-stretched tongues.

This carved sculpture in Auckland really has something

about it that attracted me.

I think its that whole island vibe thing , and the use of

native woods and Maori imagery.

Very cool don't you think ?

Diwali

I arrived in Mumbai today on the last

day of the three day Diwali festival.

This is the festival of lights and amongst

the fireworks at night and garlands of

fairy lights in the trees, the streets are

decorated with these fantastic richly

coloured powders.

These designs are called 'Rangoli'

and they are created outside entrances

and doorways to welcome the Goddess

Lakshmi for good luck, wealth and to

ward of evil for the year ahead.

I think they are so beautiful even

as they get swept away by peoples feet

and the wind.

Do You remember I posted the photograph of the great

wall emblazoned with an eagle located in Surry Hills

in Sydney ( the Eagle Has Landed, 28/9) ?

Well here is another fantastic example of the street art

this inner city suburb.

I will post some more in the coming weeks, so if you

like these, keep an eye out.

Love Letters

This wall is one of many in Sydney's historical area

'The Rocks' wallpapered with an artwork by Australian

artist Eric Bridgeman.

Normally bills like this one are posted to advertise a

concert or product, but many artists are realizing

the power of the repetitive image ,displayed in a location

that will reach a wider audience than inside a gallery.

Bringing it to the street ...makes sense to me.

Why are street signs in San Francisco so

cool?

they are colourful, quirky and just not at all

safe and conservative.

says something about the spirit of this

great city.

It also shows how design is so important

in creating life and amusement on the

street.
