Covers part 1

I've always loved the cover of i-D magazine. with it's
winking beauty.
When I was studying design way back when, I would
buy it along with The Face, every month for inspiration.
It was also these two mags that first got me into street-
fashion.

Woodwork

This carved sculpture in Auckland really has something
about it that attracted me.
I think its that whole island vibe thing , and the use of
native woods and Maori imagery.
Very cool don't you think ?

Treetop gallery

Sydney's Art and About Photography exhibition was
so amazing this year and tackled such a variety of
subjects from street violence , to isolation caused by
mobile technology and recycling on the street.
All this hanging high in the trees in the city centre.

This art might not have been seen by many
people at all if it was hung in a gallery.
Not that I don't like galleries, but it just shows you how
showing art in public spaces helps it reach a wider
audience.
Love it !

The Buddhists of Suburbia

Can you believe these sculptures I spotted in the same
markets (outside the Kings Palace ) in Bangkok as per
my post a few days ago?

Thats right, I said sculptures!
These miniature Buddhist monks were incredibly lifelike down
to every little detail , sunspots, spectacles and all.

Streets in Bloom

In every city I travel to, on every street, flowers are
blossoming in every incarnation possible.

Long live flower power.

Treasure Trove

I could have spent an entire day fossicking through all
the vast collections of oddities at this market just
outside the King's Palace in Bangkok.
You name it, it was for sale there!

Wallpapered again

Thai Boxing fliers were all over Thailand.
I think it is more like kick boxing. Does anyone
know much about this sport?

TIKI Love

The Tiki is a Maori talisman,
representing the unborn human embryo
and is a symbol for good luck and fertility.

I like this street art version holding a
spray can with a small love heart in
it's centre.

Ok Barbie Let's go Party

One of the photographs in Sydney's yearly Art and About
photography contest in Hyde Park.
The theme is always Sydney life. Stay tuned for more
in the coming weeks.

Keeping cool, Bangkok

Great shirt style in Bangkok.

I can't believe I was there just prior to
the floods and now what was a buzzing
city is knee deep in water.
I am sure the people of Bangkok with
there wonderful optimistic attitudes
are putting on a brave face.

I heard a young guy was floating down
the street wearing a mermaid tale
fashioned out of plastic bags...now thats
smiling in the face of adversity!

Phi Phi Island style

Boat style on Phi Phi Island had a real bohemian vibe,
all batik sarongs, flat worn leather sandals, garlands of
bright flowers and simple fishnet lighting.
Hope you get a feel for it from these shots..

Tiled to Perfection

Anyone who has meandered up Crown st
in Sydney's Surry Hills will be familiar
with Route 66, a very cool shop thats a bit
cowboy- meets -rocker- meets- Gus Van
Saint-meets- Rebel Without a Cause-meets
...you get the jist...!

So these tiles surround its doorway,
and they are wonderful..I want them in
my bathroom.
