Colour

Some great looks on the streets of Sydney

lately. Must be the last days of warm

bringing out loads of colour on the streets.

Bearded Boys

You have had to have nticed those barbed bandits on the

street of late.
Not since the 70's , when Burt Reynolds, Mic Fleetwood

and just about any one on the streets from San Francisco

to Sydney wore there growth with pride, have beards

been so everywhere.
When I was in Paris recently , if a guy didn't have a beard,

he had probably not yet reached puberty.
So don't grow a mo, or sexy side burns.

Forget the taste collector or whatever that small triangle

of bumb-fluff under ones' lip was called ,that was so 2006.

Whether going for some longish stubble or the full beardorama,
just don't shave off the hairs on you chinny, chin, chin!

What's up Top?

I have noticed some really great t-shirts

and and tops out there for guys. (see

yesterdays post on the white tee)

My favourite is this tie died green and black

one above and the hyper-coloured tie died

one held by the guy in glad wrap below.

There are so many really cool options out

there without playing it safe with a label

emblazoned on your chest..(unless you find

a really great old school vintage number)

stick to original tees like these, or unbranded

basics in colours that suit you

and hang with a little room ,in the best cotton.

White Tees

Reinvention is the way fashion evolves.

The basic of all basics, the white tee has

just gone through this process.

Longer, voluminous, and lower in the neck.

It is all about the shape of things..broad on

top and narrow below.

Look out for the roomy white tee revolution.

Leather and Lace

Gone are the days when girls wore pretty

dresses with dainty shoes.

It's all about contrast ,where cotton shifts

are more at home on the street with biker-

boots or trainers, chunky gold chains and

bold turquoise jewellery. Graphic prints

accessorised with brown, purple and

black leather, and that's all in the one outfit.

Or white canvas high-tops with plaid and

a motorcycle jacket.

Rules are made to be broken...

so break them!

Backpacker fashion

Backpacker fashion. The two might seem

a contradiction in terms , but I definitely

have noticed some interesting backpacker

style of late.

I love the thought of jumping in a van and

heading with a group of friends across the

desert into the Australian centre.

Or up the coast to Byron Bay.. maybe as

far as Cairns, Darwin and Kakadu.

I did it all through India with one change

of clothes and a bomber jacket that

doubled as a pillow on long train trips.

All I know is your clothes become a

travelling uniform , holding memories

of adventures and sunsets at foreign beaches.

Dusty with journeys into the middle of

nowhere and back.

Four wheel drives become homes

and surfboards or a much loved chess-

set, your only possessions.

Story Book Street

Most street sculpture is huge , awkward

and at odds with the environment in

which it sits, often raising eyebrows

..and not in a good way!

These small but striking little sculptures

perched beside the harbour in picturesque

Lavender Bay, Sydney, are so refreshing,

because they are like tiny little secrets.

They surprise you as you pass and

tickle you with their charm.

They also refer to Australian Pop

culture.

The Magic Pudding, Ginger Meggs and

Blinky Bill the koala are all characters from

classic Australian storybooks and comic strips.

If you are in Sydney, go down to

Luna Park and do the walk around the harbour,

and remember to keep an eye out for these guys!
